I spent a very hot weekend at my friend John Kirby’s house in Arkansas. Visiting artist Akio Kondo was in town.
Mr. Kondo is a Kokufu award winning bonsai artist from Japan. Akio was Kihachiro Kamiya’s first apprentice and is Boon Manakitivipart’s senior from Kihachi-En, where they both studied. My friend, John Kirby hosted Akio for part of his trip, so was a great time working on trees with good friends.
Akio did some amazing work on this Scots Pine sourced from Louisville, KY.
This juniper also got some style!
